Google Trip

Image
This semester we went to Google in New York City, New York. It was a very good and interesting work place. We saw the people using scooters to transport from room to room. In addition, there were different places to eat in the google offices. Our tour-guide showed us the very first computer (image below). It was interesting and he also showed us the very old CD's and told us that it still works. After that we went through the staircase all the way to the 14th floor went to the rooftop. To be honest it didn't really felt like a rooftop but like a backyard. Where you can be able to rest and eat while taking your break. Another thing that was really good was the sleeping area. I called it the sleeping area because there was like a little bed or somewhat similar and you can sleep or take a nap. Mrs.Ramirez  really liked the little garden. There was plants on wall. It was really nice.         If I was able to work at google I would feel really bless...

College Fair/Career

Image
There was a National College Fair at Javis Center Convention on April 22, 2018. I went there with my friend to explore and see what colleges we might want to go to. To be honest, I didn't expect to see lot of people at the fair. There was people with their parents and others with their friends. Most of the people were from all the 4 boroughs. I couldn't really go to some of the colleges and ask questions or scan my barcode because there was lot of people in the line. Especially Hunter College there was a lot of people in the line. My friend took a picture of me looking at the tall guy in front of me while waiting in the line. As you can see in the bottom right you can see looking at the boy back. An for the other picture in the left bottom I was adventuring around.

Today's workshop we learned about resumes. We learned as to what you need to write in your resume and what you should not. Some things you should write in your resume is you skills, experience(volunteer work), your career objective, education, and your achievements. On the other side, you should not include the date in your resume; your height and weight. Also, you could add an image or a picture of yourself. However, there are some companies or interviewers that judges based on your appearance, your background and religion. In addition, we need to be prepared for an interview and be confident. Mr. Vanderputten told us his story when he was being interviewed in school by Mr.Anthony. In his resume he wrote that one of his skill was video. An that he was applying to be a Special Education or District 75 teacher. However, Mr.Anthony realized that he can teach students about video. So, he sent his resume to the principle and principle said...

In this lab we were trying to build an app called the Color Sleuth. This game is for two players and has 4 colored square. Out of the 4 squares only one square has a slightly different color and you have to find it. Whoever has the most points wins. For instance, if Player 2 has about 20 pts and Player 1 has 15 pts, then player 2 wins the game. This app game was created at code.org studio. The program is JavaScript which most programmer uses. Doing this we learn how to make a scoring system in our game and learn how to  make a game work/or create a new game.

CTE Expo

Image
On the CTE Expo we had to dress up formally. The CTE expo is to show the freshman of what kind of things we are doing and what they will do in the future. We had to show them around and welcome them by shaking hands. The main purpose of this CTE Expo was to show our teacher our interview skills. When the freshman walk in to our classroom we welcome them and showed our website or our games. There was this one person I tried to talk to but that person just didn't listen to me. I felt sort of mad. However, I still smiled like what Mrs. Ramirez always said. It happened a couple of times. The good thing was that at least I was able to find some students that were willing to listen to me. I also played games with them on computer. To be frank, most of the freshman was shy or did not care about this. Some use their phone or they talk to their friends.     Most of the freshman were interested in our games. They were like "Did you guys create game in this class?" Also, t...

Researchers have created computer models that could predict how cancer will progress in a specific individuals based on tissue, cellular and sub-cellular protein signaling  responses. The models can predict how brain tumors will grow with much great accuracy than other previous models. The group began a clinical study to see how an individual's cancer will progress after one cycle of therapy and to use that predication to plan the course of treatment. It explains that the combination of mathematical modeling and high performance computing may be the only way to overcome the complexity of cancer. Not only one disease but hundreds, each with numerous sub-types.For example ,  at  Vanderbilt University, Yankeelov's previous institution, his group was able to predict with 87 percent accuracy whether a breast cancer patient would respond positively to treatment after just one cycle of therapy.             I t...

Machine learning computer systems is which you get better with experience are poised to turn into the economy much as steam engines and electricity have in the past. They can out stand people in a number of tasks though they are unlikely to replace people in all jobs. Mitchell, who the founded the world's first Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University describe 21 criteria to evaluate whether a task is amendable to machine learning.  Machine Learning is one element  of what is known as artificial intelligence. Rapid advances in machine intelligence have yielded recent improvements in facial recognition, natural language understanding and computer vision. Its already widely used for credit card fraud detection, financial market analysis and recommendation systems with new applications such as medical diagnosis on the horizon. Machine Learning will affect a particular job or profession can be difficult because machine learning tends to automat...

Inner working of victorious AI revealed by researchers      At December 18, 2017 an artificial intelligence defeated the four top professional players in no time-limit Texas Hold'em used a three-pronged approach to master a game with more decision points than atoms in the universe. They explained how their AI broke the game into computationally manageable parts and fixed potential weaknesses in its strategy during the competition. Libratus beaten each of the players individually in the two-player game and wonmore than $1.8 million in chips. Measured in milli-big  blinds per hands (mbb/hand), a standard used by imperfect- information game AI researchers. Libratus decisively defeated the humans by 147 mmb/hand. In poker lingo, this is 14.7 big blinds per game.        I think that this is a cool thing. Also, I can't beleive a guy defeated the top four professional player in no time-li...

Privacy

I think privacy is a major thing to look out for because privacy is a scary thing. When you post something and message something or even call someone its not private. For example, when you call your friend the phone company can track or know who you were talking to because they will have the tracking thing inside your phone. In addition to that there can be a weird or scary person working in the phone company and follow where you are at.Also, when you post something in social media people can view it and that they can screenshot it and save it into their phone. If you deleted something in your media its not actually deleted. Its just that you won't be able to see but the company would see it. Privacy is a scary thing to do.

Current Event#1

This current event is a group of researchers that used cryptographic techniques to decode the activity of motor neurons. Cryptographic means the science or study of the techniques of secret writing, especially code and cipher systems, methods , and the like. The researchers goal allowed them to predict, from brain data, and with only generic knowledge of typical movements which direction monkeys will move their arms. The researchers are from the University of Pennsylvania, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the Northwestern University have now accomplished a similar feat using cryptographic techniques to decode the activity of motors neurons. The same cryptographic techniques can or could eventually be used to decode complex patterns of muscle activation. The research was lead by Konrad Kording. Kording is a Penn Integrates Knowledge Professor with appointments in the Department of Neuroscienc...

Researchers are creating a library of movement data from different dog breeds, to make animals animations in films and video games more realists.  Movies like Planets of Apes uses motion to capture techniques extensively to transform actors into apes but it doesn't work for true 4 legs animals. Computer scientist now from the Centre for Analysis of Motion,Entertainment Research&Applications at the University of Bath are trying to look for a way or a new technique that will be able to use the movements of a human actor to drive a four-legged animal character, to make it move in a more realistic way. They will use different type of dog breeds to study the gaits of the animals and hope to expand the project to cats next year.     In my opinion, I think its a good and bad because for us humans we would it. However, for the dogs or cats they wouldn't like because we are using them for this. Source:  https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20...

According to the Michigan State University indicates that online kids or students who uses innovative robots feels more engaged and connected to the teacher and students in the classroom. It is the first time ever study of a pioneering robot-learning course shows. The study, published in Online Learning, discovered that robot learning helps and benefit the remote students more than the traditional video-conferencing.The traditional video-conferencing is where in which multiple students are displayed on a screen. Christine Greenhow explained how the technology has implicated for telecommuters working remotely and students with disabilities and ill. MSU's College of Education started using robot learning in 2015.         In my opinion, I like this robot learning because it supports students with disabilities or someone who is ill. In my family there is someone with a disabilities and it can benefit him. Not only him but for people or kids out ther...

In today's society the researchers have shown how to  write any magnetic pattern wanted onto nano-wires. It could help computers mimic how the brain processes information. Current hardwares like hard drives uses magnetic memory devices. Researchers from Imperial College London have created a way for writing magnetic information in any way wanted using something called a magnetic force microscope. It arrays of magnetic nano-wires which can function as hardware neutral networks. It is more powerful and better than the software-based approaches.      In my opinion I think that this is a great news for all the people especially the people who is into technical and programming and computer things. We now are modernizing and advancing into another level. Thanks to the people of the Imperial College London.    Source:  https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/11/171120141501.htm

In today society Google created their first wireless headphones. Its called the Google's new Pixelbud headphones. It is connected to an voice or audio source or something like a Bluetooth. It explains that there is a rope-like cord that connects the buds to each other. It means that there is a rope or a wire that is connects the left bud to the right bud and the right bud to the left bud. It is designed as partner piece to the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones. Both smartphones were showed and announced as part of a barrage of new hardware and technology this year at Google's I/O developer's conference.  To control the Pixelbud headphones it says to poke around the outside surface of the right bud. There isn't any buttons so it starts to not function properly. The cost of the headphones is $159.      In my opinion I think that the headphone would be better for the Google smartphone because it was created by Google. The good benefits a...

This week news about technology is "the robot lawyers are here - and they're winning." In BBC news about technology I heard that over 100 lawyers in London firms went against an artificial intelligence program called Case Cruncher Alpha. It states " In all, they submitted 775 predictions and the computer won hands down, with Case Cruncher getting an accuracy rate of 86.6%, compared with 66.3% for the lawyers." What this means is that the robots are winning more cases than the humans. Both the humans and robot were given the basic info of payment protection insurance mis-selling cases. The Case Cruncher is the brainchild of four Cambridge law students. They turned something difficult which is the program that could predict the outcome of cases. However, none of the team had any knowledge of computer science except for Ludwig Bull who taught himself.

In lab 2 we had to take a picture of our self and try to put in the website. Its the same information as lab 1 but we just add in the portrait of ourself. It was a little bit hard because the image wouldn't show up in the website. Also, the image would be small or big while the information is small and can't see the font or either the font is too big. However, we learned new things while crossing into trouble or struggle.

Blown to Bits chapter 2,5,7 and 8

In chapter 2 it explains the none of the information can be kept safe. The author compares to  George Orwell's novel 1984, about how the people are being watched by a government force Big Brother.  In the novel, the ruling party has complete control over the people like what they doing and things like that. An the author is comparing this with the modern day London. The author states the Subway bombers of 2005 to claim his point. The author is saying that we are always exposing our information to others. He says that when the cell phone is on, it constantly send signal to a cell tower. It allows the cell phone company to know where you are or located. This is one way you know information can't be kept safe. To sum it up, this chapter is mainly indicating  how your information is precious to anyone in a post-digital revolution world, making it important for anyone to protect their information. In chapter 5 it talks about how to protect data from o...

This week the current event is that objects can bring optical connection onto silicon chips. Silicon chips is  a tiny wafer of silicon used to make an integrated circuit or another way to call it is a micro-chips. The MIT News Office explains that the huge increases in computing show in recent years has been accomplished by tightening in more transistors in crowded space on micro-chips. The effect of this was that this downsizing meant packing the wiring within microprocessors even more together. Leading into things like signal leaking between components which slows down connection between different parts of the chips. It is known as "interconnect bottleneck". The researchers are trying to figure out material or things that is compatible or able to work with silicon. In order to bring out " optoelectronics and optical communication" on-chip, but it is said that its difficult to prove it by Jarillo-Herrero.

Lab1

In Lab1 we had to explain who we are. Also, we used html tags such as <br> , <h1>to <h6> , <center> and more such. We can do it in Textedit or Dream Weaver. I first used TextEdit but changed into Dream Weaver because Dream Weaver shows you the code and how it looks live. For TextEdit its just code you have to type in. We have to the lab number which is our first lab and it had to be in a webpage. At first, I didn't know how do it put into a website and thought it was hard to do so. However, it was sort of easy and sort of hard for me at first.

WBL Workshop #2

In today workshops we learned about our career DNA. DNA stands for Dynamic Natural Abilities. Another way we say it is Holland Interest Code. It tells us whether we are Realsitic, Social, Artistic, Conventional, Investigators, or/and Enterprising. In the packet Ms.Lopez gave to us inside the packet it has many ways to help you indicate what your personalities or DNA is. My Holland Interest Code is RSA. Which is Realistic, Social, and Artisitic. I am realistic because in the packet page 10 it helps me indicate what's my Holland Interest Code is. I like to be active most of the time, often athletic like riding bikes and playing basketball outside with my friends. I also enjoy working with tools and equipment. I am also Social because I like to help people who I can be able to help. I like to help because my grandma and my parents are old and I want them to be resting. I also know each person in the world is precious to at least one person in their heart a...
